Uttar Pradesh has launched the country’s first Vistadome jungle safari train, offering an immersive wildlife experience through Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary. This initiative combines conservation with tourism, allowing visitors to explore rich forest ecosystems in comfort and style.
Operated by Indian Railways and supported by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, the Vistadome train features panoramic glass windows, a transparent roof, and rotating cushioned seats—all designed to offer uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness. The 107 km journey between Mailani and Nanakmatta (passing through Katarniaghat) takes approximately four hours and 25 minutes.
From dense Sal forests to marshy grasslands, passengers can witness a wide variety of flora and fauna, including the Bengal tiger, leopard, Asian elephant, and barasingha (swamp deer).
Part of the “One Destination, Three Forests” Vision
The Vistadome safari train forms a key component of the state’s “One Destination, Three Forests” campaign, which aims to link the three major protected areas of Dudhwa, Katarniaghat, and Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary. This campaign is part of a broader eco-tourism strategy spearheaded by the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board, focusing on sustainable travel and community-based conservation.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the state’s commitment to balancing development and ecology. “This is a significant step towards showcasing the natural wealth of Uttar Pradesh to the world, while promoting conservation and generating local employment,” he said.
