Norwegian Cruise Line® (NCL), unveils the first phase of highly anticipated enhancements to Great Stirrup Cay, its private island in the Bahamas, introducing new world-class amenities designed to elevate the guest experience.
At the centre of the island’s transformation is the Great Life Lagoon, a nearly 6,000-square-metre pool area created for both relaxation and recreation. Larger than two Olympic-sized pools combined, the expansive heated pool features a beach-style entrance leading to a dedicated splash area with interactive water features for young guests. Adults can unwind at two swim-up bars, while private cabanas surrounding the pool offer stunning ocean and lagoon views.
A key highlight of the enhancements is the new Vibe Shore Club, an adults-only retreat accessible by an all-day pass. The exclusive space features private cabanas, a dedicated bar and a serene beachfront setting for guests seeking a more elevated island escape. Families will also enjoy Splash Harbor, a complimentary splash pad for children located just steps from the main pool area.
Additional upgrades include a new Welcome Centre and a convenient tram system designed to make navigating the island seamless and effortless. A newly added pier further enhances accessibility, allowing guests easier and more consistent access to the island.
“Great Stirrup Cay has always been a favourite for our guests, and these new enhancements make it even easier for guests to trade the winter weather for the warm tropics and enjoy an ‘Escape to the Great Life,’” said Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “With the versatility of Great Life Lagoon and family-friendly offerings like Splash Harbor, we’ve created an island where everyone can unwind, play and create lasting memories. This transformation is about delivering premium experiences, unparalleled service and the freedom for guests to enjoy their vacation their way.”
Looking ahead, Norwegian Cruise Line will continue the island’s expansion with the launch of Great Tides Waterpark in the northern hemisphere summer of 2026. The new attraction will feature 19 waterslides catering to guests of all ages, anchored by the striking Tidal Tower with eight thrilling slides, including the park’s tallest attractions. Guests can look forward to high-speed racing slides, twisting tube slides, adrenaline-filled body slides and convenient conveyor belts that transport rafts to the top.
Great Tides Waterpark will also include a nearly 244-metre dynamic river, an 836-square-metre splash zone for children, and Cliffside Cove, featuring the industry’s first cliffside jumps, racer slides and additional attractions.
As the transformation of Great Stirrup Cay continues, Norwegian Cruise Line expects to welcome more than one million guests to the private island across 17 ships in 2026. This includes visits from its newest vessels, Norwegian Aqua®, sailing seven-day Caribbean itineraries from Miami and Orlando (Port Canaveral) through October 2027, and the all-new Norwegian Luna™, set to debut in March 2026 and operate seven-day Caribbean voyages from April to October 2026.
