South African Tourism concludes Corporate Think Tank series with Kolkata edition

South African Tourism continued the fifth edition of its flagship corporate engagement initiative, Corporate Think Tank, with Kolkata as the fourth and final stop of the current leg. The event brought together over 25 senior corporate leaders, offering a platform for strategic dialogue, idea exchange, and exploration of collaboration opportunities.

As the concluding city in the four-city series, Kolkata marked a significant milestone in South African Tourism’s efforts to deepen engagement with India’s corporate sector. Through insightful discussions, immersive destination presentations, and interactive networking sessions, the Corporate Think Tank highlighted South Africa’s growing appeal as a preferred destination for business events, MICE, and leisure travel.

Kolkata has emerged as a priority market for South African Tourism, supported by its strong presence across IT, BFSI, manufacturing, trading, education, and service-led industries. The city’s expanding base of corporate and young professional travellers, coupled with rising demand for incentive travel and conferences, positions it as a high-potential source market for outbound MICE and leisure travel.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Gcobani Mancotywa, Regional General Manager – Asia, Australia, and Middle East, South African Tourism, said, “The Corporate Think Tank allows us to engage directly with India’s corporate leaders and better understand their evolving travel priorities. Kolkata’s strong commercial legacy and future-facing industries reaffirm its importance as a source market for South Africa’s MICE segment. We remain committed to strengthening corporate partnerships and welcoming more business events and incentive groups from India.”

With a young and expanding workforce, rising corporate travel spending, improved infrastructure, and growing global connectivity, India is poised to become a major global MICE hub. South Africa’s diverse offerings—ranging from adventure activities and wildlife safaris to scenic landscapes and value-driven experiences—continue to resonate strongly with Indian corporates seeking impactful and memorable incentive travel.

South African Tourism remains focused on strengthening its position as a trusted partner for India’s growing outbound MICE market, building long-term collaborations that support sustainable growth and meaningful business travel experiences.
