Major airlines suspend operations on 2 March as Dubai international airport and regional airspace remain closed

Several major international airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, Emirates, and Qatar Airways, have suspended or significantly curtailed flight operations on Monday, 2 March 2026, in response to ongoing regional airspace closures and the continued closure of Dubai International Airport.

The decision follows escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have led to precautionary airspace restrictions across several Gulf countries. Airspace over key transit hubs, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, remains restricted, prompting airlines to prioritize passenger and crew safety.

Air India

Air India has extended the suspension of flights to and from destinations in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and other affected West Asian markets until 2359 hrs IST on 2 March.

Passengers on impacted flights are being contacted directly and are being offered options including complimentary rescheduling or full refunds.

IndiGo

IndiGo has cancelled approximately 160 flights scheduled for 2 March as part of a temporary suspension of select international services operating through restricted Middle Eastern airspace.

The airline has provided flexibility measures, allowing customers to opt for full refunds or alternate travel arrangements without penalty.

Emirates

Emirates has temporarily halted operations to and from Dubai International Airport amid ongoing airspace restrictions.

Customers booked on affected flights are eligible for rebooking within a specified period or refunds in accordance with airline policies. Passengers are advised to check flight status before proceeding to the airport.

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways has suspended flights following the closure of Qatari airspace.

The airline has stated that services will resume once aviation authorities confirm that operations can safely recommence.

advisory to passengers

Airlines and civil aviation authorities continue to monitor the evolving situation. Travelers are strongly advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for the latest updates, revised schedules, and assistance options.

Further updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
