AirAsia and Pegasus Airlines strengthen Asia–Europe connectivity

AirAsia enters into its first-ever codeshare partnership with Türkiye’s leading low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines, strengthening connectivity between Southeast Asia and Europe through Istanbul and opening new travel opportunities across the two regions.

The partnership brings together AirAsia’s extensive network across ASEAN and Asia with Pegasus Airlines’ European network through its hub at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The collaboration is designed to provide travellers with more seamless connections, wider destination choices and greater flexibility when travelling between Asia and Europe.

Under the initial phase of the partnership, travellers will gain access to five European destinations from Kuala Lumpur via Istanbul. These include London Stansted, Moscow Vnukovo, Ankara Esenboğa, Zurich and Athens.

The codeshare is expected to progressively expand, with the combined AirAsia and Pegasus networks potentially opening access to more than 100 routes between Asia and Europe over the short and long term.

The partnership also strengthens AirAsia’s Istanbul operations. The airline plans to increase its Kuala Lumpur–Istanbul service from four flights per week to seven flights per week by February 2027, providing additional flexibility for travellers connecting between Southeast Asia and Europe.

Commenting on the partnership, Amanda Woo, Chief Commercial Officer, AirAsia Group, said the collaboration brings together two low-cost airline networks from ASEAN and Europe and connects AirAsia’s extensive Asian network with Pegasus Airlines’ broad European network through Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen.

She said the partnership represents a different approach to expanding AirAsia’s European reach, with the airline focusing on strengthening connectivity between Southeast Asia and the European market through strategic partnerships.

The codeshare will also create opportunities for European travellers to connect through Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur with destinations across AirAsia’s wider ASEAN, Asian and Australian network.

The partnership is expected to provide greater convenience for international travellers while strengthening Kuala Lumpur’s role as an important gateway between Southeast Asia and Europe.

AirAsia has also introduced special launch fares for selected routes under the new partnership. The promotional fares are available for bookings made between September 2 and September 6, 2026, for travel through March 27, 2027, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

The launch marks a significant step in AirAsia’s international network expansion and comes as the airline continues to develop its position as a broader low-cost network carrier. For the travel trade, the partnership creates additional routing and connectivity options between two major regions, potentially offering new opportunities for travel agents, tour operators and international distribution partners.
