BrijRama Palace recognised among the Top 20 Hotels in Asia and the Indian subcontinent

BrijRama Palace, Varanasi, recognised among the Top 20 Hotels in Asia and the Indian Subcontinent in the Condé Nast Traveller UK Readers’ Choice Awards 2026, celebrating its distinctive approach to heritage hospitality and immersive cultural experiences.

Built in the 18th century, BrijRama Palace is one of Varanasi’s oldest heritage structures, set on the banks of the Ganges, just a stone’s throw from the iconic Dashashwamedh Ghat. Once a royal residence, the palace has welcomed distinguished guests, including Jeff Bezos, Brigitte Macron, Gerard Butler and Sadhguru. Today, it offers an intimate window into the living traditions of the holy city, where mornings begin with the sound of flute and a pandit’s recitation of the revered Bhagavad Gita.

Beyond its heritage architecture and riverside setting, the palace curates experiences that connect guests with Varanasi’s spiritual and cultural fabric. These include yoga sessions on the terrace overlooking the Ganges, visits to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, culinary walks through the city’s traditional food lanes, textile tours exploring its renowned weaving heritage, and guided walks uncovering lesser-known cultural gems. Within the palace, the Bada Aangan serves as a vibrant cultural hub, hosting regular cultural performances and activities that bring the city’s artistic traditions to life and keep guests immersed in the spirit of Varanasi throughout their stay.

At Aangan, the palace’s signature dining experience, a ten-course degustation menu draws on the legacies of three guardians of its heritage. Rooted in seasonal ingredients and Ayurvedic wisdom, the menu transforms food into a narrative of the palace’s history and the cultural identity of Varanasi.

Commenting on the win, Udit Kumar, Co-Founder, Brij Hotels, said, “We are delighted and proud to receive this recognition from Condé Nast Traveller UK. At BrijRama Palace, our vision is to offer guests a glimpse into the royal heritage and cultural traditions of Varanasi, without compromising on the warmth and quality of our hospitality.”

This recognition reaffirms BrijRama Palace’s position as a destination where heritage, spirituality, gastronomy and the enduring rhythms of Varanasi come together to offer a stay deeply rooted in the spirit of the city.
