As the calendar turns, the travel fraternity reflects on a year shaped less by itineraries and more by emotions. The journeys of 2025 unfolded as stories of connection, reflection, celebration, and quiet wonder. From destinations that uplift communities to moments shared with family, friends, and oneself, these voices from the industry reveal how travel continues to touch lives in deeply human ways. In their own words, they share experiences that linger long after the journey ends.

“One of my most memorable experiences this year was visiting a lesser-known destination where tourism has begun to positively transform the local community. What stayed with me was not just the beauty of the place, but the pride and warmth of the people who are now benefiting from responsible tourism. It reinforced my belief that travel is at its best when it creates meaningful connections and shared prosperity.” (Destination: Andaman Islands)

“We’re very blessed to live in a country with so much to offer, so many experiences to enjoy. Every once in a while, there’s an irresistible urge to travel across the world and discover what other destinations have to share.
Recently, my mother planned a family getaway to celebrate her birthday, and we chose Oman. Friends from across the world had spoken about it for years, often describing it as Dubai from 25 years ago, which only added to the curiosity.
What we experienced was an exceptionally charming, intimate, and elegant destination. We arrived with open minds and left genuinely impressed. Oman feels understated, calm, and quietly confident. The mosque was breathtaking, the opera house equally striking, and every sight carried a sense of grace.
We spent two nights in the mountains of Jabal Akhdar, at around 2,800 metres, which became a true highlight. Staying at Alila, surrounded by dramatic vistas and a serene atmosphere, elevated the entire journey.
Oman is a destination I would wholeheartedly recommend to well-travelled visitors seeking something culturally engaging and unhurried. The experience was deeply relaxing, and it is a place I would happily return to.”

“This mid-April 2025, I travelled to Lake Garda in Italy, and it became one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The journey beautifully combined the charm of Garda Lake, the history of Brescia, and an unforgettable biking adventure. From the moment I arrived, the lake’s clear blue waters and the surrounding mountains created a sense of calm that felt refreshing and grounding.
Visiting the town of Brescia felt like stepping into history. Ancient Roman ruins, medieval buildings, and lively squares blended seamlessly, creating an experience that was both enriching and enjoyable. The historic centre revealed stories at every turn, complemented by welcoming cafés and local shops.
Cycling around Lake Garda offered a completely new perspective of the region. Riding along the lakeside paths, with blue waters on one side and green hills on the other, felt truly liberating. Passing through small villages and ending the experience with a sunset cruise across the lake made the journey unforgettable. The trip perfectly balanced culture, nature, and adventure.”

“My trip to the USA this year left me utterly spellbound. For the first time in over 40 years with my wife, we experienced a truly extraordinary family reunion. All six sisters, along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren, came together under one roof for a wedding celebration.
After 31 years of marriage and many years before that, this was a moment we had never managed to achieve. The joy of togetherness, laughter across generations, and shared memories made the experience incredibly emotional and beautiful. It is a journey etched deeply in my heart and one I will always treasure.
Adding a touch of the future to this emotional trip was the Waymo experience in San Francisco. Travelling in a driverless cab felt surreal, fascinating, and strangely delightful. It was an experience that truly felt unreal.”

“We often associate travel with family holidays, and yet travelling with friends who gradually become family brings an entirely different depth. Earlier this year, during a quiet trip to Patnitop with Manvendra, there was a moment that stayed with me.
Sitting outdoors in the crisp mountain air, watching the fog gently lift from pine-covered hills, we spoke about life, work, and everything in between. The absence of urgency allowed space for reflection. It became clear that travel has a way of slowing time, offering an opportunity to disconnect from routine and reconnect with oneself and with people who truly matter.”

“My son is four years old, and this year marked our first ‘boys ’trip’, something I had always dreamt of since he was born. From enjoying our flight filled with cartoons to sharing meaningful, uninterrupted conversations, this journey to Dubai was pure joy.
We spent time playing at various play areas in Dubai Mall, indulged in desserts that usually come with restrictions, admired the animals at Dubai Safari Park, and soaked in the vibrant atmosphere of Global Village.
This father-and-son holiday brought a sense of fulfilment and happiness that will stay with me for years. It was the beginning of a tradition I look forward to continuing.”

“My favourite travel memory of 2025 has to be our anniversary trip to Japan with my wife, Renuka. We planned the journey for over a year, and the experience from take-off to our return to Mumbai felt truly magical.
Japan has a way of spoiling its visitors, leaving behind a pleasant hangover long after the journey ends. The country offers powerful lessons in blending technology with tradition, something that becomes beautifully evident when you explore the Land of the Rising Sun.”

“Budapest in 2025 felt nothing short of magical. Walking through Margaret Island, surrounded by gardens, tree-lined paths, and the gentle flow of the Danube, brought a sense of calm that felt deeply restorative.
Standing at Fisherman’s Bastion at sunset, overlooking the city and the Parliament, filled me with awe and admiration. A visit to the New York Café, celebrated as one of the finest cafés in the world, felt like stepping into a living piece of art, with its grand interiors, rich aromas, and indulgent pastries.
As evening set in, the city’s vibrant nightlife added energy and excitement, beautifully complementing the quieter moments of the day. Budapest left me with memories rich in beauty, flavour, and emotion, moments I will cherish forever.”

Together, these reflections capture the essence of a year where travel offered far more than movement. It created moments of belonging, joy, reflection, and inspiration. These journeys remind us that travel, at its core, continues to be a deeply human experience, one that stays with us, shapes us, and quietly enriches our lives.
