Courchevel earns 13th Michelin star

Courchevel’s position as a destination for alpine haute gastronomie is further solidified with the announcement of the 2025 Michelin Guide awards. Among the 78 new stars unveiled at a ceremony in Metz, the spotlight shines brightly on Courchevel, as Baumanière 1850, nestled within the elegant Hôtel Le Strato, receives its second Michelin star.

Helmed by Chef Thomas Prod’homme, Baumanière 1850* offers a bold and deeply personal culinary experience. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories, Provençal roots, and the rich wintery terroir of the Alps, Chef Prod’homme’s cuisine has been lauded for its balance of technical precision and emotional resonance.

The Michelin Guide praised the restaurant’s “precise, complex and particularly generous cuisine,” highlighting how it “oscillates between Mediterranean references and more local flavors.” Among the signature dishes, Souvenir d’Enfance — a comforting and technically refined composition of homemade farfalle, chicken oyster, onion, and Tomme de Savoie — exemplifies the chef’s imaginative and heartfelt approach.

“Chef Thomas Prod’homme dares to deliver playful gastronomic winks on the plate,” the Guide noted, applauding his risk-taking, creativity, and honest, bold flavors. The accolade places Baumanière 1850* among the elite culinary destinations in France, reinforcing Courchevel’s reputation as a beacon for discerning gastronomes.

With this new recognition, Courchevel now boasts a total of 13 Michelin stars spread across seven restaurants, further establishing the alpine resort as one of France’s most distinguished fine dining destinations. Each establishment brings its own signature style and culinary philosophy to the table, creating a diverse and elevated gastronomic landscape in the heart of the Alps.
