IndiGo commenced direct flights between Kolkata and Siem Reap, becoming the first Indian carrier to directly connect India with Cambodia. The thrice-weekly service, operated using the Airbus A320neo aircraft, marks IndiGo’s 46th international and 140th overall destination, further strengthening its growing global network across the ASEAN region and beyond.
Mr. Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said,
“We are delighted to launch our inaugural flight to Siem Reap, a destination that deepens IndiGo’s footprint across Southeast Asia and enhances global connectivity from our Kolkata hub. This new route not only symbolizes a milestone for IndiGo but also reinforces cultural and economic ties between India and Cambodia. Our mission remains to connect people, cultures, and opportunities seamlessly.”
Siem Reap, Cambodia’s second-largest city and the gateway to the world-famous Angkor Wat, offers travelers easy access to Southeast Asia’s cultural heart. With growing Indian tourist interest and simplified travel through Visa on Arrival and e-Visa facilities, the new direct service will significantly enhance tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
