AAI confirms resumption of civil flights at 32 airports

In a major development for domestic and international air travellers, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) announces the resumption of civil aircraft operations at 32 airports across the country. The announcement follows a temporary suspension of services that remains in effect until 05:29 hours on May 15, 2025.

In a press release issued by its Corporate Communications Directorate, the AAI confirms that the temporary closure—earlier communicated via a reference notice—is now lifted. All 32 affected airports are now operational for civil flights with immediate effect.

The brief closure, implemented as a precautionary or regulatory measure, impacts several key regional and domestic travel hubs, causing temporary disruptions in air travel plans for thousands of passengers. However, the statement does not disclose specific reasons for the suspension.

“It is informed that these airports are now available for civil aircraft operations with immediate effect,” the official release states.

The authority urges travellers to remain vigilant and stay updated on their flight schedules. “It is recommended for travellers to check flight status directly with airlines and monitor airline websites for regular updates,” the release adds.

The communication also advises travellers and stakeholders seeking further details to contact the Corporate Communication Department at 011-20818228.

This update brings relief to both airlines and passengers, especially those relying on regional connectivity for business, tourism, and personal travel. Industry insiders anticipate that normal operations will resume swiftly, although some residual delays and rescheduling are likely over the next 24 hours.
