Flights to several cities cancelled by IndiGo and Air India due to security reasons

IndiGo and Air India make an unexpected decision to cancel flights to several key cities on Tuesday, citing security concerns along the country’s borders. Flights scheduled to and from cities such as Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, and Chandigarh are among those affected. Both carriers clarify that the move prioritizes passenger safety above all else.

Air India announces the suspension of services to Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot. “In view of recent developments and with your safety in mind, we have cancelled flights to these cities on Tuesday, May 13. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely updates,” Air India states in a message shared on the social media platform X.

Similarly, IndiGo declares the suspension of its flights to Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot. “Due to recent developments and as passenger safety is our top priority, we have taken this decision,” IndiGo states. The airline adds, “We understand this may disrupt your travel plans and sincerely regret the inconvenience caused. Our teams are monitoring the situation closely and will keep you informed with further updates.”

Notably, several airports previously closed amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan reopen for civil aviation operations on Monday. The Airports Authority of India announces the resumption of operations at a total of 32 airports. The cancellation of services to key airports such as Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, and Chandigarh the very next day, due to security reasons, remains particularly noteworthy.
