Air India and Singapore Airlines signs commercial cooperation framework agreement

Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have signed a commercial cooperation framework agreement that will pave the way for a deeper, more integrated partnership through the development of definitive joint business agreements. The strengthened collaboration aims to enhance connectivity between India and Singapore, offering customers greater choice, improved convenience, and expanded benefits.

The agreement was signed in Mumbai on 16 January 2026 by Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, and Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Airlines.

Subject to regulatory approvals and the finalisation of definitive joint business agreements, the airlines plan to expand and enhance their product and service offerings. This includes enabling seamless connections, providing more route options, and allowing customers to book flights across both airlines as a single, unified journey. The partnership also envisages closer coordination of flight schedules to further improve travel convenience.

The cooperation could extend to greater cross-participation in the airlines’ corporate travel programmes, enhancing offerings for business travellers. In addition, both carriers will explore ways to progressively enhance privileges for members of Air India’s Maharaja Club and SIA’s KrisFlyer frequent flyer programmes, beyond the current Star Alliance benefits.

Air India and Singapore Airlines also intend to explore opportunities to broaden the scope of their cooperation in selected markets beyond India and Singapore, subject to regulatory approvals. This expansion would support growing demand for global connectivity, strengthen traffic flows through both airlines’ hubs, and reinforce the air travel markets of India and Singapore.

Currently, the two airlines codeshare on 61 destinations across 20 countries and territories. This builds on the October 2024 expansion of their codeshare partnership, which added 51 international and domestic destinations across both networks.

Commenting on the agreement, Campbell Wilson said, “Air India remains committed to expanding its global footprint, both by adding new aircraft to our fleet and by forging stronger commercial partnerships, particularly with our fellow Star Alliance member carriers. We are pleased to take our valued, long-term relationship with Singapore Airlines to the next level through this new commercial cooperation framework, which provides a clear and structured platform to explore future areas of closer collaboration. This measured approach will help lay a strong foundation for sustainable, long-term value creation for our customers and stakeholders.”

Goh Choon Phong added, “This agreement between Singapore Airlines and Air India is a natural evolution of our successful partnership, creating genuine value and delivering enhanced benefits to customers. It is a strategic, win-win collaboration that will strengthen connectivity between Singapore and India, support the growth of air travel and tourism in both countries, and deepen long-standing business and people-to-people ties.”
