Air India and its subsidiary, Air India Express, will relocate a portion of their domestic flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) starting October 26, 2025. This adjustment is part of the ongoing expansion of Terminal 3 (T3) to enhance international passenger capacity.
Key Changes:
-
Air India: Sixty of its 180 daily domestic flights will operate from the newly upgraded Terminal 2 (T2). These flights will be renumbered with four-digit codes starting with ‘1’ (e.g., AI1737, AI1787) for easy identification.
-
Air India Express: All domestic flights will shift to Terminal 1 (T1). Flights will carry four-digit numbers beginning with ‘9’ (e.g., AI9501, AI9550).
All international flights for both airlines will continue to operate from T3.
Passenger Support:
-
Inter-Terminal Transfers: Free shuttle services will run every 10 minutes between T1, T2, and T3. Through-checked baggage will be transferred airside, eliminating the need for rechecking during terminal transfers. Buggy rides will be available for passengers with reduced mobility between T2 and T3.
-
Passenger Notifications: Affected passengers will be proactively notified through their registered contact details. Air India and Air India Express encourage travelers to verify their flight details and terminal assignments before travel via the airlines’ official websites, mobile apps, or 24/7 customer service.
These changes aim to streamline operations and accommodate the ongoing development at IGIA. Passengers are advised to plan accordingly and stay informed about their flight details.
