H.E. Mr. Ali Murat Ersoy, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to India, hosted an exclusive celebration of World Turkish Coffee Day at his residence on 5th December, bringing together influencers and cultural enthusiasts for an authentic journey into Türkiye’s cherished coffee-making traditions.

The event showcased the rich heritage of Turkish coffee, which was recognised by UNESCO as the first cultural drink as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, through an engaging blend of storytelling, hands-on learning, and cultural exchange. Over 30 distinguished guests experienced the art and ritual of Turkish coffee brewing in an intimate setting that embodied Turkish hospitality. The highlight of the afternoon was an interactive brewing workshop led by spouse of the Ambassador, Ms. Fazilet Ersoy, where participants learned to prepare traditional Turkish coffee using the iconic cezve. Guests discovered the nuances of grinding techniques, sugar levels, and the art of creating the perfect foam—an essential element of authentic Turkish coffee. Turkish sweets such as baklava and Turkish delight accompanied the tasting session.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Ersoy reflected on the cultural significance of Turkish coffee, saying, “Turkish coffee represents far more than a unique brewing tradition. It is a timeless social ritual woven into the fabric of Turkish life. Recognized by UNESCO as part of our Intangible Cultural Heritage, it reflects warmth, hospitality, and the connections we cherish across generations”.
The tasting session sparked engaging conversations about Türkiye’s diverse culinary landscape and provided ample opportunities for media interviews and content creation.

The celebration of World Turkish Coffee Day reinforces Türkiye’s dedication to preserving and promoting its intangible cultural heritage on the global stage. This event marked another meaningful step in deepening Türkiye-India cultural diplomacy through shared appreciation of tradition, craftsmanship, and hospitality.
