Reinforcing their shared and enduring commitment to environmental sustainability and ecosystem restoration, Chiva-Som Hua Hin and Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som marked International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem on 26th July 2025 with simultaneous mangrove planting events in Thailand and Qatar. Together, the two resorts planted a total of 700 mangrove trees, strengthening coastal resilience and raising awareness about the essential role of mangrove forests in protecting biodiversity.

Chiva-Som Hua Hin team plants 500 mangrove trees at the Krailart Niwate Mangrove Ecosystem Preservation Project, which is a five-minute drive from the resort. The special initiative was joined by Friends of Chiva-Som, Zaheer Khan – a former Indian national cricketer who has been a key member of the 2011 World Cup winning team and Sagarika Ghatge – an Indian actress and model. This annual event underscores the resort’s long-standing commitment to mangrove conservation in Hua Hin, a legacy that has transformed former wasteland into a flourishing eco-sanctuary. Since 2013, more than 12,500 trees have been planted in the reserve, complete with a 1,000-metre elevated boardwalk for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Meanwhile, Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som in Al Ruwais, Qatar, the Middle East’s largest immersive wellness destination, the team and guests gathered at the resort’s scenic Mangrove Deck to plant 200 mangrove seedlings, protecting the unique coastal habitats that line Qatar’s northern shores. The initiative was supported by Friend of Chiva-Som and Wellness Icon 2025 Mariam Farid, a celebrated Qatari athlete and advocate for environmental responsibility. In addition to planting, participants learned about the cultural and ecological importance of Qatar’s native mangroves, which serve as a haven for marine life and migratory birds.

Both events are part of the Friends of Chiva-Som initiative, which unites wellness, sustainability, and community engagement. By championing environmental stewardship at both its flagship resort in Thailand and sister property in Qatar, Chiva-Som continues to inspire guests and local communities to embrace holistic living that honours both personal wellbeing and the health of the planet.
