Moustache Group of Hotels has launched Moustache Select McLeodGanj in Upper Bhagsu, Dharamshala, bringing its total presence in the Himalayan region to eight properties. The brand already operates seven mountain stays across key destinations in the region, and this new opening adds to its growing presence in the hills. Positioned under the brand’s mid-range Select vertical, the property is designed for travellers seeking premium comfort with uninterrupted views of the mighty Himalayas.
Located at 2,100 metres in the Dhauladhar range, the hotel sits just minutes from the McLeodGanj market while offering a quieter hillside setting. McLeodGanj, widely known as “Little Lhasa,” is also home to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile, making it both a spiritual and cultural centre. The region continues to see strong footfall. Himachal Pradesh recorded a record 1.80 crore domestic tourists and 83,000 foreign visitors in 2024, according to India Brand Equity Foundation(IBEF). April to June remains the peak season, driven by pleasant & breezy weather and summer travel demand. With peak season around the corner and demand picking up, Moustache has added this new property to meet the rush and cater to travellers looking for comfortable mountain stays.
Speaking on the launch, Abhishek Khandelwal, Co-Founder and Director, Moustache Group of Hotels, said, “McLeodGanj has always been one of North India’s most consistent travel markets. It attracts spiritual travellers, trekkers, families and long-stay guests alike. Upper Bhagsu offered the right mix of accessibility and uninterrupted mountain views, which aligns well with the Select market positioning.”
The property offers multiple room categories, including Deluxe, Superior and King rooms, along with valley-view options. Some rooms feature private balconies, jacuzzi or bathtub options, heated flooring, rainfall showers with heated seats, and 55-inch Smart TVs. The hotel also includes a glasshouse café overlooking the mountains, co-working spaces, a sunset-facing lawn, lift access, 24-hour security and gated parking.
Deepak Agarwal, Co-Founder and Director, added, “Select is becoming a strong growth driver for us. Properties like McLeodGanj help us cater to travellers who want better amenities without moving into ultra-luxury pricing. We see steady year-round demand here, given its trekking routes like Triund, proximity to Bhagsunag Waterfall, and its cultural appeal.”
Originally known for backpacker hostels, Moustache Group of Hotels has expanded into distinct verticals, including Moustache Hostels, Moustache Select and Luxuria by Moustache. With this launch, the group continues to strengthen its footprint in Himachal Pradesh as part of its broader multi-city expansion roadmap.
