Kenya launches ‘Experience Wonder’ global tourism campaign

Kenya has unveils a new global tourism campaign aimed at strengthening the destination’s top-of-mind recall among international travellers and reinforcing its position as one of the world’s most compelling travel destinations.

The campaign, titled “Experience Wonder,” showcases Kenya’s diverse tourism offerings to a global audience. Anchored under the “Origin of Wonder” banner, the initiative introduces a bold destination identity inviting travellers to explore the country’s iconic wildlife, adventure experiences, cultural heritage, pristine beaches and emerging tourism products.

The initiative reflects evolving global travel trends, including increasing demand for authentic and immersive experiences, sustainable and responsible tourism, adventure travel and digitally influenced trip planning. It also acknowledges the growing influence of younger travellers such as Millennials and Gen Z who prioritise meaningful and shareable travel experiences.

Speaking during the launch at ITB Berlin 2026, John Ololtuaa said the campaign aims to refresh Kenya’s destination brand at a time when global competition for international visitors is intensifying.

He noted that the campaign’s tagline draws inspiration from Kenya’s heritage as the cradle of humankind and a destination known for some of the world’s most iconic tourism experiences.

“Kenya is the birthplace of humanity and home to the world’s most iconic wildlife spectacles. This campaign goes beyond landscapes, wildlife, culture and beaches. It represents a feeling of connection, discovery and renewal,” Ololtuaa said.

The campaign will be amplified through innovative digital initiatives, including the Magical Kenya Souvenir Passport, designed to enhance visitor engagement and encourage deeper exploration across the country.

Ololtuaa added that Kenya is expanding its tourism portfolio to include adventure tourism, sports tourism, wellness, cultural heritage, conservation and luxury travel, ensuring the destination offers experiences for every type of traveller.

June Chepkemei, CEO of the Kenya Tourism Board, said the campaign marks a significant milestone in the country’s tourism marketing strategy amid rising global demand for authentic travel experiences.

“We are encouraged by the strong performance from our key source markets. Tourism continues to grow, and there is increasing demand for authentic experiences. That is exactly what Magical Kenya offers, and this campaign will clearly communicate the diversity and depth of experiences available in Kenya,” Chepkemei said.

The campaign is expected to accelerate visitor growth, with Kenya targeting five million international arrivals by 2027. This objective will be supported by expanded air connectivity with global carriers, the introduction of the Electronic Travel Authorization system to streamline entry procedures, and continued investments in tourism infrastructure.

The launch comes as Kenya’s tourism sector records strong growth. International arrivals increased by 14.7 percent to 2.39 million visitors in 2024, while inbound tourism earnings rose by 19.8 percent to KSh 452.2 billion.

The campaign will be rolled out across key international markets, including India, through integrated digital storytelling, trade partnerships and consumer engagement initiatives. India remains among Kenya’s top five global source markets, contributing approximately 5 percent of total arrivals in 2025, as the destination continues to attract Indian travellers seeking authentic and experiential travel.
