Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have formally confirmed their strategic joint business partnership following regulatory approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia in January 2026 and the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore in July 2025.
The approvals allow both carriers to progressively deepen their commercial collaboration, with a focus on enhancing connectivity and offering greater flexibility for customers travelling between Malaysia and Singapore. Planned initiatives include revenue-sharing flights, joint fare products, coordinated flight schedules, and joint corporate travel arrangements across both markets. Further details will be announced as these initiatives are implemented.
Datuk Captain Izham bin Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group, said the partnership marks an important step in advancing the Group’s Long-Term Business Plan 3.0 and positioning Malaysia Airlines for its next phase of growth. He noted that the collaboration strengthens connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore while enhancing the airline’s scale, network resilience, and competitive relevance.
Mr Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Airlines, welcomed the approvals, stating that the partnership creates a win-win collaboration that strengthens both airlines’ operations and delivers enhanced value to customers across their combined networks. He added that the partnership also reinforces the strong people-to-people and trade ties between Singapore and Malaysia, supporting economic growth and regional connectivity.
Since signing their initial agreement in October 2019, Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines have steadily expanded their codeshare arrangements across domestic, regional, and long-haul routes. In February 2024, both carriers also introduced reciprocal frequent flyer programme benefits, allowing members to earn Enrich points and KrisFlyer miles on selected flights.
The formalisation of this joint business partnership represents a significant milestone in the long-standing relationship between the two airlines, reinforcing their shared commitment to delivering seamless travel experiences and stronger regional connectivity.
