Marriott International strengthens Maldives presence with India destination sales team

Marriott International in the Maldives announces the appointment of a dedicated Destination Sales Team for India, reinforcing its strategic focus on deepening long-term trade partnerships, enhancing brand presence, and driving sustained commercial performance across its portfolio of resorts in the Maldives.

The newly formed team will be led by Vaishali Shah, who assumes the role of Market Director of Destination Sales – India, based in New Delhi. Under her leadership, the team will drive India-wide sales initiatives, working closely with key trade partners to support revenue growth across Marriott International’s diverse Maldives resort portfolio.

The team is further strengthened by Rahul Gupta, Karishma Kazi, and Reena Sharma, each bringing extensive experience in hospitality sales, trade relations, and market development across India.

Meet the team

Vaishali Shah – Market Director of Destination Sales, India (New Delhi)
With over 23 years at Marriott International, Vaishali Shah began her career as a Reservations Associate at Marriott Mumbai Juhu before progressing into senior above-property sales roles. She spent 15 years with Marriott’s Global Sales Office (GSO), advancing from Sales Manager to a leadership position, and brings deep expertise in sales strategy, market development, and trade engagement.

Rahul Gupta – Account Director, Destination Sales (Bangalore)
Based in Bangalore, Rahul Gupta brings over 15 years of hospitality experience across corporate, MICE, social, and leisure segments. Since joining Marriott International in 2014, he has held strategic sales roles across brands including JW Marriott Bengaluru, The Ritz-Carlton Bengaluru, Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel, Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, and The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort. A two-time Marriott Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) Top Performer Award recipient, Rahul is widely recognised for driving revenue growth and building strong trade partnerships.

Reena Sharma – Account Director, Destination Sales (New Delhi)
Reena Sharma brings over 20 years of hospitality experience, including seven years with Marriott International. Her background includes senior sales leadership roles at The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa, JW Marriott Goa (pre-opening), and an above-property role with Marriott’s National Sales Organization. She is known for driving commercial growth and managing key intermediaries, leisure tour operators, and MICE planners across Delhi NCR and pan-India.

Karishma Kazi – Account Director, Destination Sales (Mumbai)
Based in Mumbai, Karishma Kazi brings 14 years of experience within the Indian travel trade. She has successfully represented several Marriott International Maldives resorts, including JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, and Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa. In her role, Karishma will focus on India-wide sales strategy, trade engagement, and revenue acceleration across the Maldives portfolio.
