Me’gong Festival 2025 concludes with spectacular finale in Garo Hills

The Me’gong Festival 2025 concludes with a grand finale over the weekend, drawing over 55,000 visitors and reaffirming Meghalaya as one of India’s most vibrant cultural destinations. Featuring international headliners, national artists, and homegrown talent, the festival delivered a memorable celebration of music, culture, and community spirit.

Day 1 Highlights:
Opening day set the momentum with a star-studded line-up featuring Richard Marx, Neeti Mohan, Julian Marley, and Nucleya. Marx performed classics and unreleased tracks from his upcoming album Afterhours, Neeti Mohan paid tribute to Zubeen Garg with Mayabini, Julian Marley brought reggae vibes, and Nucleya closed the day with high-energy performances.

Day 2 Highlights:
The second day brought electrifying performances on the Aski Stage by Blue, Yellow Claw, Prateek Kuhad, and Kanika Kapoor, captivating thousands of festival-goers. Blue thrilled audiences with nostalgic hits such as One Love, All Rise, and Guilty, while Yellow Claw closed the festival with an explosive EDM set. Prateek Kuhad’s soulful melodies and Kanika Kapoor’s Bollywood favourites like Chittiyaan Kalaiyan and Baby Doll added a diverse musical experience.

The festival also spotlighted the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project (CM-MGMP), providing seven emerging bands an opportunity to perform alongside international stars, creating a transformational platform for young artists.

Cultural Experiences:
Beyond music, Me’gong Festival offered immersive cultural experiences, including the Great Garo Hills Cook Off, judged by Nambie Jessica Marak, vibrant Brew Village, a Cosplay Contest, Miss & Mr Me’gong Contest, craft and food markets, VR experiences, and stalls by entrepreneurs under PRIME Meghalaya.

Government Support:
The festival was inaugurated by Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, emphasizing the state’s growing position in India’s Concert Economy. Over the years, Meghalaya has become a preferred destination for global artists, hosting festivals such as Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival and Winter Tales, further enhancing tourism and creative enterprise opportunities in the region.

As the lights dimmed over the Bolbokgre-Watregre Festival Grounds, Me’gong Festival 2025 concluded, leaving behind unforgettable performances, cherished memories, and a renewed sense of pride in the cultural identity of the Garo Hills.
