Six Senses London opens its doors within The Whiteley, the historic former Whiteley’s department store located in Bayswater, marking the brand’s first property in the United Kingdom. Just moments from Hyde Park and the vibrant neighbourhood of Notting Hill, the new hotel introduces the signature philosophy of Six Senses—blending wellness, sustainability, and emotional hospitality within an urban sanctuary in London.
The hotel features 109 rooms and suites, many with private terraces, alongside 14 branded residences. Designed with glass rain showers, expansive windows, deep blue tones, and warm wood textures, the interiors combine bold architectural lines with Art Deco curves. The property’s most exclusive accommodation, the Whiteley Suite, includes a 125-square-metre rooftop terrace and the option to create a private floor experience.
Nick Yarnell, General Manager of Six Senses London, said the hotel aims to create a welcoming and authentic experience for guests while respecting the heritage of The Whiteley building. The property celebrates British craftsmanship and innovation while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding community.
The hotel’s design, developed by AvroKO in collaboration with EPR Architects, preserves the building’s Grade II listed façade and draws inspiration from William Whiteley’s fascination with the Great Exhibition of 1851. At the centre of the property stands the restored grand staircase, carefully reconstructed by Foster + Partners and The Hub, now rising through three floors toward a glass-domed ceiling.
Wellness is a key focus of the property through the expansive Six Senses Spa London, which spans 2,300 square metres. The facility features London’s first hotel magnesium pool, a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, a 325-square-metre fitness centre, yoga studios, and multiple treatment spaces offering cryotherapy, flotation therapy, red-light therapy, and a traditional hammam. The spa also includes a Biohack Recovery Lounge equipped with advanced wellness technologies designed to support performance and recovery.
An integrated wellness centre offers personalised health consultations, biomarker analysis, and lifestyle assessments aimed at improving sleep, metabolic health, cognitive performance, and stress management. The hotel has also partnered with HUM2N, founded by Dr. Mohammed Enayat, to provide advanced blood diagnostics, IV nutrient therapy, and performance-focused health programmes within the property.
Dining at the hotel reflects the Eat With Six Senses philosophy, highlighting seasonal and sustainably sourced ingredients. At Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café, Executive Chef Eliano Crespi and Head Chef Jose Jara present vegetable-forward menus using fire-led cooking and traditional preservation techniques. A dedicated fermentation lab produces house-made ferments and preserves designed to enhance flavour while supporting gut health and sustainability.
The hotel also introduces the world’s first Six Senses Place, a social and wellness members’ club located above the lobby. The club hosts talks, seasonal gatherings, and shared dining experiences aimed at encouraging connection, personal development, and mindful living.
Sustainability remains central to the property’s operations. Through its Earth Lab initiative, Six Senses London offers workshops focused on repurposing materials and botanical preparation. The hotel operates without single-use plastics and features rainwater harvesting systems, energy-efficient infrastructure, and more than 1,150 square metres of green roof space designed to support biodiversity and urban cooling.
The hotel forms part of the wider redevelopment of The Whiteley, a mixed-use destination spanning more than one million square feet. The development includes residential homes, retail brands, and lifestyle amenities, contributing to the ongoing regeneration of Queensway.
To extend the guest experience beyond the hotel, Six Senses London has partnered with Lotus, offering a custom Lotus Eletre as the hotel’s house car for guests exploring the city.
The opening of Six Senses London strengthens the presence of IHG Hotels & Resorts in the luxury hospitality sector and follows recent brand launches in Rome and Kyoto, with additional global destinations planned in the coming years.
