Following a comprehensive renovation, Starhotels ushers in a new era for Hotel Gabrielli. This historic Venetian palazzo, home to one of the city’s largest private gardens and terraces with breathtaking lagoon views, begins a fresh chapter of demure, timeless elegance
A new chapter in Venetian luxury begins as Starhotels reopens the iconic Hotel Gabrielli as a 5-star destination following an extensive and meticulous renovation. Set on the prestigious Riva degli Schiavoni, just moments from Piazza San Marco, the 14th-century palazzo emerges with a refined, Grand Tour-style elegance, where restored Murano chandeliers and sumptuous interiors echo Venice’s storied past.
Boasting panoramic views of San Giorgio Maggiore and the San Marco lagoon, and home to one of the city’s largest private gardens, the new Gabrielli offers a modern yet profoundly authentic Venetian experience—both directional and deeply rooted in heritage.
“With Hotel Gabrielli, we realize a long-held vision for Venice: offering two distinct yet complementary experiences. After Splendid Venice behind Piazza San Marco, we now bring our hallmark excellence to Riva degli Schiavoni,” says Elisabetta Fabri, President & CEO of Starhotels. “Guests here won’t just visit the city—they’ll live it, from one of its most privileged vantage points.”
The ambitious renovation led by Milanese designer Andrea Auletta balances timeless elegance with contemporary comfort. Architectural treasures—coffered ceilings, Istrian stone columns, and antique marble details—have been sensitively preserved and enhanced, while design elements and craftsmanship celebrate Italian artistry. The property remains under the stewardship of the Perkhofer family, custodians since 1856, now in their fifth generation.
Now part of Starhotels Collezione and aligned with La Grande Bellezza – The Dream Factory, the Group’s initiative celebrating Italian craft and heritage, Gabrielli joins a prestigious portfolio of iconic properties.
With only 66 rooms and suites, including a spectacular Presidential Suite with its own rooftop altana, the hotel offers an intimate, elevated experience. The restored façade, crowned with magnificent Quadrifora windows, frames extraordinary views and marks a new architectural emblem for the Gabrielli.
Nestled at the rear of the hotel, a 600 sqm private garden—among the largest in Venice—offers a peaceful retreat with centuries-old olive trees, hydrangeas, magnolias, and antique marble tubs, all surrounded by the sounds and textures of the lagoon.
The culinary offering, curated by Venetian Executive Chef Mirko Pistorello, reflects a commitment to local traditions and the Km Veneto philosophy, sourcing ingredients from regional producers.

The Felice al Gabrielli Restaurant, named in honor of Franz Kafka’s muse Felice Bauer, presents an intimate dining space that opens onto a tranquil courtyard.

The K Lounge Bar, with its warm tones and natural materials, serves as the social heart of the hotel, celebrating the flavors of the lagoon.
On the sixth floor, the Terrazza Gabrielli offers 150 sqm of open-air glamour with a sweeping 360° view of Venice. Here, Chef Pistorello’s dishes and signature cocktails by Bar Manager Diego Filippone elevate the sunset aperitivo to an art form.
Completing the experience, the boutique Venetian Spa provides an intimate wellness retreat featuring a private suite, hammam, sauna, multisensory shower, and treatments for two, all adorned with marble and restored artisanal finishes.
Hotel Gabrielli Venezia – Starhotels Collezione officially reopens today, joining The Leading Hotels of the World. A new benchmark in Venetian luxury, it offers a distinctive blend of historic grandeur, modern refinement, and heartfelt hospitality—crafted to inspire generations to come.
