The Westin Jaipur Kant Kalwar Resort and Spa marks Marriott International’s 200th property in India

The Westin Jaipur Kant Kalwar Resort and Spa, designed by GPM Architects & Planners, marks a significant milestone for Marriott International with the opening of its 200th property in India. Located at the foothills of the Aravalli hills near Rajasthan’s Pink City, the resort is spread across a 9-acre site and also represents the Manglam Group’s debut in the hospitality sector.

Conceived as an experience-driven destination, the resort is designed to appeal to both international travellers and local residents seeking a relaxed weekend escape. Emphasis has been placed on creating a family-friendly environment with amenities catering to all age groups, while maintaining a tranquil, wellness-focused atmosphere throughout the property.

A contemporary reinterpretation beyond traditional Rajasthani architecture

Moving away from conventional Rajasthani architectural expression, GPM Architects & Planners have drawn inspiration from Balinese architecture, reinterpreting it through a contemporary design lens. While the visual language explores a distinct stylistic direction, it remains deeply rooted in cultural sensitivity and a strong response to the site’s natural surroundings. Lush tropical landscaping and water-led spaces define the guest journey, offering a calming counterpoint to the energy of urban life.

Planning for balance, privacy, and climate comfort

The resort’s master plan carefully balances activity, privacy, and climate comfort. Public and private zones are thoughtfully layered, with water bodies serving as transitional elements while also contributing to passive cooling during Jaipur’s intense summers. The use of local materials and environmentally conscious landscaping gives the property a strong sense of place, while the open layout encourages visual continuity and effortless movement across the site.

Sustainability through climate-responsive design

Sustainability has been integrated through climate-responsive design strategies, including shaded walkways, natural air and water circulation, and planning techniques that support comfortable microclimates. During construction, an on-site nursery was established to cultivate plant species that help mitigate the heat island effect. The resort also plans to maintain a herb and vegetable garden to support its culinary operations, reinforcing a mindful approach to resource use.

Aligning global wellness with local context

The design philosophy aligns closely with Marriott International’s Six Pillars of Well-Being, translating global wellness principles into a context that responds to Jaipur’s climate and cultural identity. This approach reflects GPM Architects & Planners’ ongoing commitment to creating hospitality environments that respect local character while meeting international standards.

A retreat shaped by wellness and cultural sensitivity

Rooted in the Indian ethos of hospitality as an act of service, the collaboration between GPM Architects & Planners, Marriott International, and the Manglam Group has shaped The Westin Jaipur Kant Kalwar Resort and Spa into a destination defined by wellness, comfort, and cultural sensitivity. The resort offers guests a peaceful retreat that seamlessly blends global hospitality benchmarks with the enduring spirit of Rajasthan.
