Thomas Cook India and SOTC sign strategic MoU with Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority to drive Indian outbound travel

In a strategic move to boost travel from India to Mauritius, Thomas Cook (India) Limited, along with its group company SOTC Travel, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA). The collaboration aims to significantly enhance Mauritius’ visibility and inspire increased visitation from the high-potential Indian market.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Rajeev Kale, President & Country Head, Thomas Cook (India) Limited; Mr. S.D. Nandakumar, President & Country Head – Holidays and Corporate Tours, SOTC Travel Limited; and Mr. Benoît Harter, Director, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, in the presence of Mr. Dinesh Burrenchobay, Chairman, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.

The partnership will spotlight Mauritius beyond its iconic beaches and lagoons, highlighting its rich Creole heritage, vibrant cultural tapestry, diverse cuisine, festivals and religious harmony. With strong cultural links to India, visa-free access, short flight durations and a wide range of premium and value-driven resorts, Mauritius continues to appeal to Indian honeymooners, multi-generational families, millennials, Gen Z, Gen S, leisure travellers, and the growing MICE and corporate travel segment.

This multi-pronged collaboration will focus on destination education, product development and integrated marketing communications, targeting India’s metros, mini-metros, and emerging Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets to position Mauritius as a top-of-mind international destination.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Rajeev Kale said the alliance would leverage Thomas Cook India’s omnichannel strength, destination expertise and extensive reach to showcase Mauritius’ evolving proposition across leisure, MICE and business travel segments. Mr. S.D. Nandakumar added that the collaboration would help present Mauritius as a multifaceted destination with strong cultural resonance for Indian travellers, driving sustained demand across diverse travel segments.

Mr. Benoît Harter noted that the partnership aligns with MTPA’s strategy to accelerate growth from India by engaging both metropolitan and regional markets through close collaboration with Thomas Cook India and SOTC Travel.

The MoU marks a significant step in strengthening tourism ties between India and Mauritius, reinforcing the destination’s position as a preferred long-haul choice for Indian travellers.
