Tourism Malaysia strengthens India engagement ahead of SATTE 2026

Tourism Malaysia reaffirmed its strong commitment to the Indian outbound market at a high-level press conference held in New Delhi today, ahead of its participation in SATTE 2026.

The event was led by YBhg. Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Chairman of Tourism Malaysia, and Dato’ Muzafar Shah Mustafa, High Commissioner of Malaysia to India. The engagement comes as Malaysia accelerates its global outreach under the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

Market Momentum and Performance

Malaysia reported a significant surge in tourism, recording 42.2 million international arrivals in 2025—a 14.6% increase over the previous year. India remains a top-tier source market, contributing over 1.6 million visitors in 2025.

Datuk Manoharan Periasamy noted that strategic collaborations with Indian partners are essential to driving “sustainable and high-yield tourism growth.” Echoing this sentiment, Dato’ Muzafar Shah Mustafa highlighted the resilience of the Indian market across leisure, MICE, and wedding segments, supported by continued visa-free entry for Indian nationals.

Enhanced Connectivity and Strategic Events

Accessibility between the two nations is at an all-time high, with more than 240 weekly flights currently operating. To further catalyze this growth, Tourism Malaysia hosted three dedicated engagement events today:

• Wedding Seminar: Positioning Malaysia as a premier destination for grand Indian weddings.

• MICE B2B Session: Connecting Malaysian industry players with Indian corporate planners.

• Malaysia Networking Dinner 2026: An exclusive evening to strengthen bilateral cooperation among trade partners and media.
