India’s first wedding and MICE Conclave begins today

India’s first Wedding and MICE Conclave, organized by Kerala Travel Mart Society in collaboration with the state government, begins today, giving an aggressive push to position Kerala as a preferred setting for meetings, incentives, conferencesand exhibitions (MICE) and destination weddings.

Tourism and Public Works Minister Shri P.A. Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate the three-day event at the Grand Hyatt in Bolgatty Island at 5 pm. Minister for Industries, Law and Coir Shri P Rajeeve will chair the opening ceremony.

Business meetings, networking sessions and deliberations will be held in the next two days at Le Meridien International Convention Centre.

Shri Hibi Eden MP, Kochi Mayor Shri M Anilkumar, Union Ministry of Tourism Additional Secretary and Director-General Shri Suman Billa, State Tourism Secretary Shri Biju K, Kerala Tourism Director Smt Sikha Surendran and Additional Director Smt Sreedhanya Suresh, KTM Society President Shri Jose Pradeep and Secretary Shri S Swaminathan will be present.

A total of 610 buyers from within the country and 65 buyers from abroad have registered for the event.

Representatives will come from UAE, the UK, Germany, USA, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Oman, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Ukraine, and Vietnam.

The business meetings will be held from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm on both days.

There will be 75 exhibition stalls for sellers. In addition, there will be stalls from KTDC, Kerala Tourism and the Union Ministry of Tourism.

Two national seminars have been planned as part of the conclave focusing on the current trends and future vision of this sector, with the participation of international experts in the field.
