Air India expands international routes with new and upgraded cabin interiors for Northern Summer 2026

Air India today announces significant enhancements to its international network for the Northern Summer Schedule 2026, featuring aircraft with new, retrofitted, or upgraded cabin interiors on key long-haul routes. These updates aim to increase capacity, improve connectivity, and elevate the passenger experience.

Key schedule and product updates (February–August 2026):

  • Delhi-Tokyo (Haneda): From 14 February, B787-9 aircraft with three-class configuration and Premium Economy, adding 2,408 seats per month.

  • Delhi-Toronto: Frequency increases from 7x to 10x weekly starting 1 March; new B787-9 aircraft introduced from 1 August, with more than 50% of North America flights featuring upgraded cabins.

  • Delhi-Seoul (Incheon) & Delhi-Shanghai: Frequency enhancements starting 29 March, adding 2,048 seats monthly on each route.

  • Mumbai-London (Heathrow): From 1 July, a mix of new B787-9 and retrofitted B787-8 aircraft replaces the current B777-300ER, featuring all-new cabin interiors.

  • Delhi-Melbourne: Daily B777-300ER flights from 1 July with upgraded interiors, introducing First Class and adding nearly 4,000 seats per month.

  • Bengaluru-London (Heathrow): From 1 August, retrofitted B787-8 aircraft with Premium Economy; all London-bound flights now feature upgraded interiors.

  • Other routes: Flights to Birmingham from Amritsar and Delhi, and to London (Gatwick) from Ahmedabad and Amritsar, will operate with legacy B777-300ER featuring First Class.

Fleet modernization and expansion:
Air India is retrofitting 26 legacy B787-8 aircraft with custom new interiors and vibrant livery, with progressive returns to service throughout 2026. Additionally, the airline expects deliveries of three new B787-9 and two line-fit A350-1000 aircraft, strengthening its long-haul operations and product offering.
