The Peninsula London marked its inaugural Lunar New Year celebration with a late-night gathering that brought together leading voices from the capital’s art, fashion and cultural communities. Reinterpreting the festive occasion through a distinctly London lens, the event blended time-honoured traditions with the city’s contemporary creative energy.
The evening unfolded across the hotel’s Little Blue Bar and Canton Blue restaurant, where guests experienced imaginative cuisine, vibrant music and curated cultural moments. The celebration, guided by RED FLAGGED, a London-based cultural consultancy championing East and Southeast Asian creative talent, honoured the Year of the Horse in refined style.
Music for the evening was curated by ZEE-2, known for genre-blending sets that fuse house, R&B and global rhythms, alongside Clara Rosa, whose cinematic DJ style has earned recognition across London’s creative scene.
Among the guests were designers Chet Lo and Oscar Ouyang, musician Mutya Buena, actors Gemma Chan and Christopher Chung, alongside prominent media and cultural commentators from across the city.
Culinary highlights included signature Canton Blue dishes alongside Lunar New Year specialties. Guests were invited into the kitchen for an intimate dim sum experience, watching chefs prepare dishes to order before tasting them, paired with crafted baijiu cocktails. The celebration also featured a striking 3-D textile installation by Shanghai-based artist Lin Fanglu, presented in partnership with the V&A as part of The Peninsula’s global Art in Resonance programme.
Adding to the evening’s cultural immersion, Four Winds Mahjong experts guided guests through the game on limited-edition sets gifted by Ralph Lauren. Transportation to and from the event was provided by Wheely, the luxury on-demand chauffeur and concierge service.
Lunar New Year remains a significant moment in The Peninsula Hotels’ cultural calendar, reflecting the group’s Asian heritage while embracing contemporary global influences. Celebrated across its portfolio of 12 hotels worldwide, the occasion continues to unite tradition, creativity and hospitality.
