Air India extends suspension of Middle East flights for March 3; long-haul operations resume

Air India announces that it has extended the suspension of all its flights to and from the Middle East for March 3, citing ongoing airspace closures in the region.

The airline, however, confirmed that its scheduled long-haul operations to the United States, Canada, Europe, and the United Kingdom have commenced as planned.

The extension follows continued airspace restrictions in parts of the Middle East amid escalating tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which have significantly disrupted international air travel.

Indian carriers have collectively cancelled 1,117 international flights over a three-day period beginning February 28 due to the evolving situation and related operational constraints.

Air India stated that it is closely monitoring developments and coordinating with aviation authorities to ensure passenger safety and operational preparedness. Travellers have been advised to check flight status updates through official channels before proceeding to airports.
