Government revises passport fees effective July 1

The Central Government announces revised passport application fees, which will come into effect from July 1, 2026. The updated fee structure applies to various passport services, including fresh passport applications, renewals, and Tatkal services, as part of the government’s periodic review of administrative charges.

The revised fees will apply to both 36-page and 60-page passports across normal and Tatkal application categories. The Ministry has advised applicants planning to obtain or renew their passports to review the updated charges before submitting their applications after the revised rates come into force.

Industry stakeholders believe the revised fee structure is unlikely to significantly impact international travel demand but will require travel agents, visa facilitators, and passport service providers to update customer advisories and service information. The announcement comes ahead of the peak outbound travel season.

The revised passport charges form part of the government’s efforts to streamline passport services while supporting the continued delivery of efficient documentation and citizen services. Travellers are encouraged to verify the applicable fee category before initiating new passport applications.
