India resumes Tourist Visas for Bangladeshi Nationals

India has announces the resumption of tourist visa services for Bangladeshi nationals, restoring a key travel corridor between the two neighbouring countries after nearly two years. Tourist visa applications will be accepted from June 28 through designated visa application centres in Bangladesh, marking a significant step towards strengthening people-to-people ties and regional tourism.

The decision is expected to provide a major boost to cross-border leisure travel, family visits, and tourism-related businesses. The resumption of tourist visas will also support airlines, tour operators, hotels, transport providers, and other travel trade stakeholders that cater to travellers between India and Bangladesh. Medical and urgent visa services will continue alongside the reopening of tourist visas.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the move, noting that Bangladesh has historically been one of India’s largest inbound tourism source markets. The restoration of tourist visa services is expected to contribute to increased visitor arrivals, revive tourism-linked economic activity, and strengthen bilateral travel cooperation across Eastern South Asia.

The announcement reflects India’s continued efforts to enhance regional connectivity and foster stronger cultural and economic engagement with neighbouring countries. Tourism experts believe the reopening of the travel corridor will create fresh opportunities for destination marketing, cross-border tourism partnerships, and sustained growth in the regional travel ecosystem.
