Relais & Châteaux launches Myimpact

Relais & Châteaux, launches MyImpact, a digital platform designed to help its members turn sustainability commitments into measurable action. Starting with carbon footprint assessment, MyImpact combines a shared global methodology with property-specific analysis and tailored recommendations. The tool empowers independent hotels and restaurants to measure their carbon footprint, identify priorities, and turn insights into action adapted to local contexts across the Association’s 65 markets. The platform is already gaining significant traction: 39% of Relais & Châteaux members completed their carbon footprint assessment within the first year of its rollout.

Global carbon insights, tailored for local action MyImpact has been designed as a long-term sustainability management platform, driving the sustainability agenda of the Association. The hospitality industry is expected to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 50% by 2040, in line with internationally recognised frameworks, including the Paris Agreement and the Glasgow Declaration. Relais & Châteaux is committed to contributing to this collective effort, bringing together 580 independently owned and operated properties around a shared ambition empowering each to act locally. In 2027, based on the carbon footprint assessments undertaken by its members, the Association will work on developing an indicative decarbonisation pathway, including goal recommendations tailored to each property’s local context.

Through MyImpact, Relais & Châteaux provides its independent member properties with a dedicated platform to measure, understand and reduce their carbon footprint. The solution combines carbon footprint calculation personalised reduction plans tailored to each member’s results and local context, multilingual expert support and a global forum for sharing best practices and solutions across the network.

Developed by sustainability and scientific experts*, MyImpact allows members to simulate the effect of their inputs on carbon emissions in real time and benchmark their performance across the network. The platform also estimates the potential emissions reduction associated with each recommended action. Members can therefore assess the likely impact of different measures before implementing them, helping turn recommendations into concrete, prioritised action.

“With MyImpact, we give every Relais & Châteaux property a powerful tool to turn sustainability ambitions into measurable action. Its strength lies in its ability to adapt a shared global framework to the distinct environmental, cultural and regulatory realities of each property, making sustainability action both locally relevant and globally aligned. By enabling 580 properties around the world to act in ways tailored to their own context while advancing a common ambition, MyImpact gives tangible expression to Relais & Châteaux as a global movement committed to transforming hospitality for a more sustainable future,” declares Laurent Gardinier, President of Relais & Châteaux.

Building a long-term sustainability management platform

This initial carbon-focused phase lays the foundation for a broader sustainability management approach. Additional features will gradually be introduced to cover the full spectrum of Relais & Châteaux’s commitments, supporting the strategic management of its social, societal and environmental goals.

The platform will progressively expand to help members measure, monitor and strengthen their performance in areas including local sourcing, biodiversity-friendly landscaping and social criteria relating to the work environment.

“Through our use of MyImpact, we’ve established 2025 as our baseline year to conduct a rigorous analysis of our carbon emissions across all three Relais & Châteaux resorts in Sri Lanka. By measuring key operational areas and also areas we did not include in our measurements before including organic food sourcing, differentiating the different types of transport used and waste segregation across a number of categories, we now have an authentic, data-driven view of our environmental footprint. Guided by these insights, we are accelerating our sustainability goals through immediate reduction measures, such as flow aerator installations and strict energy optimization, alongside targeted carbon offset initiatives.

Alongside this, the sustainability and conservation arm of our group Dilmah Conservation operates a climate change research center not too far away from Ceylon Tea Trails. The first of its kind in Sri Lanka, which works in climate research, climate education and climate adaptation” declares Ashmitha Gunaratne, Assistant Manager Impact & Partnerships, Relais & Châteaux Resplendent Ceylon, Sri Lanka.

Alongside the introduction of MyImpact, Relais & Châteaux has made sustainability one of its key quality criteria. The Association’s member properties are assessed every two years to ensure that they meet its high standards of quality, using an inspection questionnaire comprising approximately 500 criteria.

Since 2025, a sustainability score has become the third pillar of the Association’s inspection questionnaire, capturing what is visible to guests, like awareness-raising practices, the promotion of local products, and the visible management of resources. In 2027, the score will also capture operational practices via MyImpact.

By combining collective commitment with individual action, MyImpact marks a new step in Relais & Châteaux’s journey to ensure that hospitality continues to create value for people, places and the planet, in harmony with all life on earth.
