The FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council appoints Mr. Sriharan Balan, Managing Director of Madura Travel Service Pvt Ltd, as the Convenor of the FICCI Tamil Nadu Tourism Panel for the financial year 2026–28. The appointment brings together his extensive experience in the travel and tourism industry, industry representation, destination promotion, MICE, leisure travel and tourism-related initiatives with FICCI’s broader engagement with government and industry stakeholders.
The appointment comes at a significant time for Tamil Nadu’s tourism sector, with opportunities across leisure tourism, business events, destination weddings, heritage and cultural tourism, experiential travel, film tourism, wellness tourism and international visitor markets. The Tourism Panel will provide a platform for structured dialogue between the tourism industry and the Government while identifying practical opportunities to strengthen the State’s tourism ecosystem.

• Industry–Government Collaboration: Facilitating regular dialogue between tourism stakeholders, government departments and allied industries.
• Policy Advocacy: Representing industry perspectives on policies, regulations, infrastructure and ease-of-doing-business measures.
• Destination Development: Encouraging emerging destinations, heritage circuits, experiential tourism products and region-specific opportunities.
• Investment & Infrastructure: Highlighting opportunities for tourism infrastructure, hospitality, MICE facilities and allied services.
• Sustainable & Responsible Tourism: Promoting tourism practices that protect cultural heritage, natural resources and local communities.
• Skills, Innovation & Technology: Supporting workforce development, digital transformation, innovation and technology-led solutions.
Tamil Nadu has a diverse tourism portfolio encompassing temples and heritage sites, beaches, hill stations, wildlife, cuisine, arts and culture, wellness, business events and experiential travel. The Tourism Panel will seek to build stronger linkages among these segments and encourage collaboration among tourism businesses, destination partners, hospitality providers, transport operators, educational institutions and other stakeholders.
As Convenor, Mr. Balan will work with members of the FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council and relevant stakeholders to identify sectoral challenges, facilitate industry consultations and support initiatives that can enhance Tamil Nadu’s position as a competitive and sustainable tourism destination.
