Air India Express has commenced commercial operations from Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal, marking another milestone in its domestic network expansion with the launch of two daily flights to Delhi and one daily flight to Mumbai. The new services are expected to significantly enhance air connectivity for Madhya Pradesh’s capital while offering greater travel convenience for business and leisure travellers.
The inaugural services were flagged off in the presence of airport officials, industry stakeholders and representatives from Air India Express, with ceremonial boarding passes presented to the first guests travelling on the new routes. The airline’s entry into Bhopal strengthens its growing footprint across Madhya Pradesh and reinforces its strategy of improving connectivity between Tier-II cities and major metropolitan hubs.
Under the new schedule, Air India Express will operate two daily services between Bhopal and Delhi, alongside a daily service connecting Bhopal with Mumbai. The expanded network is designed to cater to increasing passenger demand while supporting faster business travel, tourism and regional economic growth. The services also provide passengers with improved onward domestic and international connectivity through the airline’s hubs in Delhi and Mumbai.
With the launch of operations from Bhopal, Air India Express has further strengthened its presence in Madhya Pradesh, where it also operates services from Indore and Gwalior. The airline recently enhanced the state’s international connectivity through direct flights between Indore and Abu Dhabi, and with Bhopal now joining its network, Air India Express operates around 55 weekly flights across the three cities.
The commencement of services from Raja Bhoj Airport reflects Air India Express’ continued focus on expanding regional connectivity while providing passengers with affordable travel options and seamless access to key commercial centres across India. The development is expected to benefit tourism, trade and investment in the region, while further strengthening the airline’s domestic network expansion strategy.
