Air India & IndiGo operate special flights between India and Kathmandu

Following the reopening of Kathmandu Airport, Air India Limited and IndiGo have jointly operated 24 special flights on Wednesday and Thursday, facilitating the safe travel of approximately 2,800 passengers.

Air India Limited operated flights exclusively between Delhi and Kathmandu, while IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd) conducted three return flights between Delhi and Kathmandu, one flight between Mumbai and Kathmandu, and a charter-cum-commercial service on the Delhi–Kathmandu–Visakhapatnam–Tirupati–Delhi route.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, shared on X:
“Due to the airport closure in Nepal, many home-bound passengers were unable to return from Kathmandu. With the reopening of Kathmandu Airport, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, in coordination with Air India and IndiGo, arranged additional flights starting Wednesday evening and over the next few days, alongside scheduled services resuming tomorrow. Airlines have been advised to keep fares at reasonable levels. We remain committed to supporting our passengers while ensuring their safe travel during this time.”

The Ministry of Civil Aviation, together with the airlines, continues to ensure smooth connectivity and passenger assistance in light of recent disruptions.
