Disney to build first Middle East theme park in Abu Dhabi on Yas Island

Disney Experiences has officially unveiled plans to bring the magic of Disneyland to the United Arab Emirates. The upcoming resort, Disneyland Abu Dhabi, will mark the brand’s first entry into the Middle East and its seventh destination worldwide, promising to be the most technologically advanced Disney park ever constructed.

Strategic Location on Yas Island
The new resort will be situated on a prime stretch of coastal land within the Yas North district of Yas Island. Strategically positioned along the E12 Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway, the site offers high visibility and easy access for international and local visitors near the entrance to the island’s thriving entertainment hub.

A Fusion of Magic and Culture
While the resort will feature the signature selection of Disney hotels, immersive rides, world-class restaurants, and retail shops, it will also be uniquely tailored to its home. The development will incorporate specific cultural references that celebrate the heritage and identity of the UAE capital, ensuring a bespoke experience for the region.

Project Timeline and Leadership
The vision for the park is already taking shape following a recent visit from Disney CEO Robert Iger, who conducted a personal tour of the Yas Island site. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro has indicated that the project is a long-term endeavor, with an estimated development window of at least six years.

“Disneyland Abu Dhabi represents a historic milestone in our global expansion. We are committed to creating a world-class destination that blends Disney’s storytelling legacy with the innovative spirit of the UAE.”
