The Government of Tamil Nadu appoints Dr. V. P. Jeyaseelan, IAS, as the Director of Tamil Nadu Tourism and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC). In his dual leadership role, Dr. Jeyaseelan will be responsible for steering the state’s tourism strategy, strengthening destination promotion, and overseeing the operations of TTDC, the state’s nodal agency for tourism development.
Dr. Jeyaseelan takes charge at a time when Tamil Nadu continues to strengthen its position as one of India’s leading tourism destinations. His responsibilities will include driving strategic initiatives to enhance visitor experiences, improve tourism infrastructure, and promote the state’s diverse portfolio of cultural, heritage, spiritual, eco-tourism, leisure, and adventure offerings to domestic and international travellers.
Under his leadership, Tamil Nadu Tourism and TTDC are expected to continue advancing sustainable tourism development while embracing innovation and digital transformation. The focus will also remain on expanding collaborations with travel trade partners, hospitality stakeholders, and tourism service providers to create an inclusive and future-ready tourism ecosystem across the state.
The appointment follows a recent administrative reshuffle by the Tamil Nadu Government and is expected to provide renewed momentum to the state’s tourism development agenda. Industry stakeholders believe Dr. Jeyaseelan’s leadership will further strengthen destination marketing efforts, improve tourism infrastructure, and support long-term growth across Tamil Nadu’s tourism sector.
