Ethiopian Airlines restores direct Atlanta service from May 2026

Ethiopian Airlines has announced the resumption of its non-stop passenger flights between Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, effective May 21, 2026.

The route, which had been temporarily suspended since February 2026, marks the reinstatement of a crucial air link between Africa and the United States, supporting both business and leisure travel demand.

With the relaunch, passengers travelling to and from Atlanta will benefit from improved connectivity to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive African network via Addis Ababa. The service is expected to cater to a diverse traveller base, including corporate passengers, tourists, and members of the African diaspora.

Speaking on the development, Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, said, “Atlanta remains a key market for us in the United States, and we are pleased to reinstate this important route. It responds to the rising demand from business travellers, diaspora communities, and tourists seeking efficient access to destinations across Africa.”

The resumed flights will also offer convenient connections to cities across the southeastern United States, while strengthening onward travel options across the African continent. As the airline continues to expand its presence in North America, the move reinforces its long-term strategy to enhance transatlantic connectivity and global network reach.
