India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, will undertake an official visit to the Maldives from August 9 to August 11, 2024. This visit marks the first high-level engagement between India and the Maldives since President Mohamed Muizzu assumed office.
During his stay, Dr. Jaishankar will engage in talks with Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including economic development, regional security, and sustainable initiatives. The discussions aim to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
In addition to his meeting with the Foreign Minister, Dr. Jaishankar will also have an audience with President Muizzu. This interaction is expected to reinforce the longstanding relationship between India and the Maldives and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
This visit follows President Muizzu’s recent trip to India, highlighting the ongoing efforts to deepen ties between the two countries. India and the Maldives share a strong bond, characterized by mutual respect and cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, and cultural exchange.
