Flybig widens its operation in Northeast, connects 3 states in 50 days

flybig is pleased to announce that it has successfully established air connectivity in Northeast India in three states in 50 days. The airline started its journey from Guwahati to Rupsi, Pasighat and Kolkata in May this year. Continuing with the commitment to connectivity in the region, the airline will kick off its scheduled flights between Agartala and Dibrugarh from 25th June 2021 under Government of India’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN-RCS). This new flight path will build a stronger network between the states of Assam and Tripura.

Air connectivity in the Northeast region has given people alternate and swifter options to travel interstate. Direct flights between Agartala and Dibrugarh is yet another remarkable landmark, providing the additional choice of travel between the two states, reducing the journey hours significantly. A distance of 750 kilometres by road that takes up approximately 12 hours can now be conveniently covered in 1.5 hours by air, thus strengthening local connectivity. Additionally, flybig is also beginning its direct flight on Agartala – Guwahati route with a morning departure from Guwahati and a return flight from Agartala in the evening.

The air route will be a milestone in generating employment, improving the infrastructure and overall economic welfare of both states.

On the inauguration of the new route, Gaurav Rathore, Chief Commercial Officer, flybig said, “We have already started the operations in eight out of sixteen routes awarded to us in the Northeast region, connecting 3 states in a notably short time. This is a moment of pride for us as we have managed to provide essential travel to people in these challenging times and continue to do so responsibly with the unlock in progression. Agartala is one of the largest cities in the region which is being developed under the Smart Cities Mission scheme. Dibrugarh, on other hand is industrial centre in Assam with highest tea production in India. Air connectivity between the states will stimulate development, enhance tourism potential, provide better opportunities to the youth and contribute towards shaping the economy. We are grateful to the state Governments of Assam and Tripura for their support and guidance in carrying out the operations successfully.”

Agartala – Dibrugarh – Agartala flights will operate with a frequency of four flights per week.  The launch fares start from INR 999 making it possible for a larger number of people to travel by flight. Passengers can make their bookings either on flybig website or through online travel agencies and regional travel partners.
