IATO 40th Convention opens in Puri

The 40th Annual Convention of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO)  inaugurates today at Swosti Premium Beach Resorts in Puri, marking a major gathering for India’s tourism sector.

The event, scheduled from August 22 to 25, 2025, was officially opened in the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Union Minister of Culture & Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha Smt. Pravati Parida, DG Tourism Suman Billa, and Commissioner‑cum‑Secretary, Tourism Balwant Singh.

 

Under the compelling theme “Rejuvenate Inbound @2030”, the convention aims to redefine India’s inbound tourism landscape, spotlighting Odisha’s vibrant cultural, spiritual, and eco-tourism potential.

Nearly 1,000 delegates, including national and international tour operators, industry professionals, investors, and media representatives, are participating in this landmark gathering.

  • Business Sessions & Knowledge Exchange
    Delegates are attending high-impact sessions focusing on sustainable tourism, cruise and film tourism, MICE, immersive travel, and Brand India’s revitalization.

Spotlight on Odisha

Dedicated sessions highlight Odisha’s heritage, coastal and spiritual tourism, tribal traditions, and eco-tourism offerings, alongside strategic initiatives like Vision 2036 and Vision 2047.

Indian Tourism Fair

Running on August 23 and 24, this fair provides a collaborative platform for IATO members to engage with state tourism boards and stakeholders.

IATO Run for Responsible Tourism & Evening Entertainment

A flagship Run for Responsible Tourism is scheduled for August 24. Alongside policy discussions, the convention offers relaxed networking through cultural evenings, a karaoke competition, and an awards ceremony across multiple categories.

Post-Convention Tours

Curated tours to iconic destinations—such as the Jagannath Temple, Chilika Lake, and tribal heritage sites—will allow delegates a firsthand experience of Odisha’s tourism landscape.

Government Collaboration & Support

The Odisha government, led by Deputy CM Smt. Pravati Parida, has pledged comprehensive support, including facilitated access to the Jagannath Temple, beautification of Puri Beach, and enhanced infrastructure arrangements.
