Jamaica resumes tourism operations from December 15, 2025

The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) announces the resumption of the island’s tourism sector, effective December 15, 2025, welcoming travellers from around the world to once again experience Jamaica’s celebrated beaches, warm hospitality, and natural beauty.

The reopening follows a comprehensive recovery programme undertaken after Hurricane Melissa impacted the island in late October 2025. Through close coordination between the Government of Jamaica, local communities, and tourism stakeholders, critical infrastructure has been restored and tourism facilities are fully prepared to receive visitors. The recovery effort was further strengthened by significant international support, enabling a swift return to operations while reinforcing long-term resilience across the sector.

Key Reopenings Underway

Sandals Resorts International has been among the first major hospitality groups to resume operations, reopening five properties on December 6, 2025, including Sandals Dunn’s River Resort, Sandals Ocho Rios, and Beaches Negril Resort & Spa.

Luxury resort Half Moon Jamaica is set to begin a phased reopening from December 15, 2025, starting with “Eclipse at Half Moon” and its newly renovated villas.

Across the island, dozens of hotels, guesthouses, and private villas in Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Kingston, and along the South Coast are already open or have confirmed reopening timelines, offering a wide range of accommodation choices for travellers.

All major tourist attractions and natural sites have recovered rapidly, with water sports, beach activities, cultural experiences, and adventure tours fully operational. The reopening of flagship resorts such as Sandals Dunn’s River Resort has been widely regarded as a key symbol of Jamaica’s successful tourism recovery.

The Jamaica Tourist Board said the destination is now fully travel-ready, with safety, service excellence, and visitor experience remaining top priorities. Jamaica looks forward to welcoming international visitors, including travellers from the India market, with its signature blend of sun, sea, and relaxed island lifestyle.

With restored infrastructure and renewed confidence across the sector, this marks an ideal time for travellers to plan a visit to Jamaica.
