Kangra district has emerged as the leading destination for foreign tourist arrivals in Himachal Pradesh, according to recent tourism data reviewed by state authorities. The development highlights Kangra’s growing popularity among international travellers visiting North India for spiritual tourism, mountain experiences, wellness retreats, and cultural exploration.
Officials stated that the district has continued witnessing steady foreign tourist movement due to its strong connectivity, scenic destinations, adventure tourism offerings, and globally recognised attractions including Dharamshala, McLeodganj, Bir Billing, and surrounding Himalayan circuits.
At the same time, discussions have emerged regarding discrepancies in certain domestic tourism figures across parts of the state, prompting closer review and verification of tourism data and reporting mechanisms.
Industry experts believe accurate tourism statistics remain critical for infrastructure planning, destination development, tourism investment, and long-term policy decisions within the hospitality and travel sector.
Tourism stakeholders also noted that Kangra’s continued rise within international travel circuits reflects increasing global interest in experiential tourism, spirituality, wellness tourism, and adventure-led travel experiences in Himachal Pradesh.
The development is expected to further strengthen tourism focus on the region while encouraging improved tourism infrastructure, destination management, and sustainable travel planning across the state.
