Marriott opens luxury hotel in Tokyo

JW Marriott officially debut in Tokyo, marking the brand’s second property in Japan and first to offer the new Mindful Rooms and Suites.

The luxury, 200-key hotel is in the center of Takanawa Gateway City, which Tokyo is marketing as the “city of the future.” With a 30th floor lobby, anchored by a Tree House centerpiece, the property blends Zen philosophy with the area’s natural surroundings – all centrally located 20 minutes from Tokyo Haneda Airport and walking distance to public transportation.

“JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo represents a milestone opening in the brand’s continued global expansion – where a warm approach to luxury meets world-class hospitality,” said Bruce Rohr, vice president and global brand leader for JW Marriott. “Inspired by the elevation and views of Gotenyama, the hotel invites guests to experience a new perspective – a journey upward through spaces designed to inspire tranquility and foster meaningful moments of togetherness.”

Guestrooms have floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of the city and feature modern Japanese interiors. Meanwhile, the new Mindful Room and Suite category, opening in December 2025, will be thoughtfully designed for a more intentional and personalized stay. There are also Presidential and Executive Suites, typical for a JW Marriott property.

For dining, guests have a choice of Mediterranean dishes at Sefino, washoku cuisine at Kakō, or kappo at the intimate, avant-garde eight-seat Saki restaurant. The hotel also features JW Marriott’s signature JW Lounge, JW Bar, and JW Garden.

On the 27th floor, the property houses the Executive Lounge and on the 28th floor, the spa and fitness center. The hotel also offers a complimentary Family by JW program, which includes fun activities and cultural programming for children.
