Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu welcomes PM Modi

“The Prime Minister of India, His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, arrives in the Maldives on a state visit, at the invitation of His Excellency President Mohamed Muizzu. This historic visit is Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to the Maldives since assuming his third term, and coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Maldives’ independence as well as the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and India,” the Maldives President said.

Indian diaspora expresses excitement over PM Modi’s visit

Many Indian expatriates living in the Maldives expressed excitement over the Prime Minister’s visit.

“We are delighted to welcome PM Modi to Male today. I have been living here for the last 24 years. The Maldives is like a second home for me,” said one member of the Indian community.

Another member added, “We are very excited to meet him. I have also been working here for the last 15 years.”
