Poland and Croatia are now directly connected by rail, thanks to the launch of the Adriatic Express by PKP Intercity. The train successfully completed its maiden journey from Warsaw to Rijeka, covering over 1,240 km across Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, and into Croatia’s Adriatic coast.
Launched as a seasonal summer service, the Adriatic Express will operate four times a week in both directions until August 29, offering a seamless and scenic travel option to the Mediterranean.
Polish Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak celebrated the milestone, noting its potential to carry up to 11,000 passengers by summer’s end. The debut run saw 90% of seats pre-booked, showcasing strong demand for convenient international rail travel.
PKP Intercity continues to expand, with record ridership of 78.5 million passengers in 2024, and targets of 88 million in 2025 and 110 million by 2030.
