Six & Six Private Islands outlines branded residence plans in the Maldives

Six & Six Private Islands announces plans to develop six branded residential private island projects in the Maldives over a six-year period. The developments are scheduled to be introduced from 2026 onwards and will focus on long-term residential ownership supported by resort-style services.

Each of the six private islands will feature a distinct design approach and narrative, while sharing common principles around sustainability, functionality, and integration with the surrounding natural environment. All projects are targeting EarthCheck certification as part of the company’s sustainability framework.

The company has now revealed details of its first two projects, both located in the South Malé Atoll.

Rah Gili Maldives

Located approximately 40 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, Rah Gili Maldives occupies an island spanning around 87,700 square metres. The development will comprise 74 beachfront and overwater villas ranging in size from 171 to 257 square metres.

The villas feature indoor-outdoor living spaces, private pools, terraces, and contemporary interiors. Overwater villas will include direct lagoon access and waterslides. The island is located near a dolphin sanctuary and will offer marine-based activities, including PADI-certified diving, wildlife observation, coral conservation initiatives, and beachfront yoga.

Shared facilities will include dining venues, a beach club, an outdoor cinema, and spaces for cultural and social programming.

Don Maaga Maldives

Don Maaga Maldives is located around 25 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport and covers approximately 117,275 square metres. The project will include 57 villas, ranging in size from 515 square metres to a five-bedroom private island residence of approximately 9,000 square metres.

The development is designed to operate as a fully serviced residential island, with dedicated butler service, private chefs, and in-villa dining. Accommodation includes water villas, beach pavilions, and standalone residences, all featuring private pools and large internal living areas.

Dining facilities will include multiple restaurant concepts, a wine cellar for tastings, and private dining spaces. Additional amenities will include sports courts, beachfront cabanas, a wellness centre with hydrotherapy facilities, yoga spaces, overwater treatment rooms, and a dedicated children’s club.

Commenting on the announcement, Laith Pharaon, Co-Founder and CEO of Six & Six Private Islands, said the developments are intended to create residential environments designed for long-term use rather than short stays. Marco Bonini, Director of Private Residences, added that the residences are designed to function as private homes supported by professional resort management, allowing owners to access services without operational involvement.

Following the planned launches of Rah Gili Maldives and Don Maaga Maldives in 2026, Six & Six Private Islands will introduce additional private-island developments in the Maldives in subsequent years.
