Sri Lanka suspends all inbound travellers from May 21

Sri Lanka has suspended all inbound passengers arriving via Bandaranaike International Airport with effect from May 21 to MAY 31. The decision has been taken into consideration with a view to controlling the Covid-19 situation in the country. Although, there’s no restriction on outbound passengers from Sri Lanka.

The recent statement issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka mentions, “This is to inform all online and offline carriers that all international airports in Sri Lanka will not permit disembarking passengers into Sri Lanka with effect from May 21 until May 31, 2021.”

Following will be permitted during the ban:

·         Aircraft departures with passengers originating from Bandaranaike International Airport/ Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport

·         Aircraft Emergency Diversions to BIA/MRIA

·         Freighter Operations and humanitarian flights to BIA/MRIA

·         Passengers transiting at BIA/MRIA for less than 12 hours with a confirmed ticket to an onward destination.
