A learning experience for the women entrepreneurs and executives in tourism to explore the festivities during this Durga Pujo in some of the traditional, aristocratic heritage houses with an introduction to the great culinary culture across the streets of North Kolkata.
We all know that Women’s empowerment and promoting women’s rights have emerged as a part of a major global movement and are continuing to break new ground in recent years. As a part of its responsible tourism practices, ADTOI introduced Lady Entrepreneur Officer (LEO) in 2019 to empower its female members with a sense of self-worth, their ability to determine their own choices, their right to influence social changes, and to ensure a sustainable future through tourism for themselves and for the industry.
As a part of our nationwide activities this year, ADTOI West Bengal Chapter in Association with India Tourism – Kolkata has organised a learning experience on October 11, 2021 for the women entrepreneurs and executives in tourism to explore the festivity during this Durga Puja with the well-known lady tour guide Bratati Saha covering some of the traditional, aristocratic heritage houses along with an introduction to the great culinary culture across the streets of North Kolkata with none other than the famous Celebrity Food Star Indrajit Lahiri.
20 shortlisted female participants from the ADTOI member organisations and Tour Operators approved by the Ministry of Tourism – Government of India explored the possibilities to promote the Great Autumn Festival of Bengal combining with an adventure with the Bengali gastronomy in the days to come.
This specialised wing of our association is nationally chaired by ADTOI Executive Committee Member Ekta Watts and represented by Puja Karar in Bengal State Chapter along with ten other LEO’s from each of the states chapters in India.
At present, the initiative is focusing on creating an effective platform for the ADTOI women entrepreneurs and executives to connect and engage in meaningful activities linked with women empowerment through tourism for the industry, students, and host communities across the country
