The Imperial New Delhi was named the “2023 Hotel of the Year – South Asia, Middle East, and Africa” by Preferred Hotels & Resorts. The prize was given out on May 19, 2023 in Montego Bay, Jamaica, during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Global Conference of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. The distinguished award given to the historic hotel epitomises its outstanding experience within the brand’s international portfolio and motivates travellers around the world to pursue.
As Preferred celebrated its 55th anniversary, the conference’s theme, Heart of Hospitality, was chosen to highlight the delegates’ common enthusiasm for hospitality, and the 2023 awards demonstrated their ongoing dedication to supporting independent hotels. At the ceremony, winners were revealed by Preferred Hotels & Resorts CEO Lindsey Ueberroth with assistance from President Michelle Woodley and other top officials. The white event was tastefully spruced up with nice touches to present an evening of erudition and was attended by over 200 leaders in the hospitality industry, including guest conference speakers Shelia Johnson, CEO of Salamander Hotels & Resorts, and Jordin Greene from Signature Travel Network. New Hotel of the Year, I Prefer Hotel of the Year, Hotelier of the Year, and the Shiji ReviewPro Award for Online Reputation Management were among the categories for the Awards of Excellence 2023.

Hotels had to place among the top in their region as part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Integrated Quality Assurance programme, which included a professional on-site inspection and real-time guest input, in order to qualify for nominations for these awards.

The brand’s regional leaders selected a shortlist of contenders from the pool of accredited hotels, and the winners were chosen by an awards panel presided over by the Ueberroth family.
